The fifth of November
"Remember, remember the fifth of November, the gunpowder treason and plot. I know of no reason why gunpowder treason should ever be forgot."
It's true that the original plot was motivated by religion, but it is not Guy Fawkes' original acts which are now commemorated by the quote. As V says, symbols are given strength by people. The quote now represents the stand against tyranny that we all must take if we are to get anywhere. Not necessarily a violent stand, but a stand of some kind, of any kind. We must all be wrenches, or at least dirt, in the quickly rusting cogs of the system that with live in. Those who apply the grease are our enemies, as they are the enemies of all free men. One man standing alone has no power against the behemoth that we face, but a million individuals laughing in the face of the bloated mass that seeks to enslave us would freeze it in its tracks. The only thing stopping us is fear. Once we all can learn to laugh instead of fearing, we will have won.
They feed on your fear. Starve them. Do it for yourself, and for those that you love.
